| Marshall Head Lighthouse, built in 1858, is the second tower to be built at the location. The 31 ft tall light resembles the towers from Maine's Isle Au Haut & Ram Island Lights. The 5th order Fresnel lens was electrified in 1935, and replaced in 1980 with a modern plastic lens. In 1898, the station became one of the first to be connected by phone to a local weather station, allowing the keeper to display warning flags on a special tower. The station was eventually boarded up in 1980, and nearly auctioned off for construction of a resort hotel. The town of St. George secured a lease on the property, and turned it over to the historical society for complete restoration. The station is now listed on the National Register.
